MASTER CLASS with Vanessa Guinto

Originally from Brampton, Ontario, Vanessa trained in RAD at Lorri’s Dance Place before moving on to study at Point Park University (Pittsburgh). Under the artistic direction of Susan Stowe, Vanessa graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2014 with a BFA in Dance and concentration in Jazz. While at school, she was privileged to perform in many choreographic works including those by Robert Battle, Martha Graham, Jessica Lang, José Limón, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and David Parsons. Vanessa also received further training at Hubbard Street
Dance Chicago, Movement Invention Project (NYC), Ignite! (Toronto) where she worked with MADBOOTS Dance and Frog in Hand Productions, and Springboard Danse Montréal where she worked with VIM VIGOR. While in Pittsburgh, she also worked for Greer Reed and her company Reed Dance (formally known as the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble). Upon graduating, Vanessa moved to NYC where she was involved in project-based performances at the BAM Fisher Theatre, Actors Fund Arts Center, and The Wild Project. She has taught at the
Koresh School of Dance and various other studios and workshops throughout Canada and the United States.
Vanessa joined Koresh Dance Company in 2015. Along with performing at different national and international venues, she is involved with teaching master classes and outreach programs while on tour with the company.

Malaya’s classic lyrical movement is often described as timeless. She has taught for LADF and EDGE for many years and travels both nationally and internationally to teach master classes and set choreography on companies in Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Korea and Japan. Among Malaya’s video, television and feature film appearances are Batman & Robin with George Clooney, a music video for Betcha with Prince, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and an appearance with Celine Dion. Malaya’s choreography credits include many Los Angeles concerts as well as the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, University of Oklahoma, Commonality Dance Company, Naway Dance Company, and the Instincts Dance Company.
